A civilian Los Angeles Police Department employee charged with capital murder for allegedly killing his wife and teenage son in their Valley Glen apartment a day after Christmas was ordered Tuesday to be jailed without bail.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Teresa Sullivan ordered Viktor Yuryevich Glukhovskiy — who works in the LAPD Security Services Division — to return to a downtown Los Angeles courtroom Feb. 27 for arraignment on two murder charges stemming from the Dec. 26 slayings of his wife, Natali, and their 13-year-old son, Alex, in the family’s apartment in the 13800 block of Oxnard Street.
Glukhovskiy was arrested last Friday by detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division — the same day he was charged with murder with special circumstance allegations of multiple murders, murder while lying in wait and murder for financial gain, along with allegations that a shotgun was used in the killings.
Prosecutors will decide later whether to seek the death penalty against the 44-year-old defendant,
The LAPD previously reported that the suspect told investigators he arrived home at 11 p.m. Dec. 26 to find his wife and their son dead.
“This horrific loss of life is incredibly disturbing, and the fact that the accused is a civilian employee of the LAPD makes it even more troubling,” the LAPD said in a statement released after his arrest. “No individual is above the law and this department will work feverishly to bring anyone who commits such a violent act to justice.”
