A family was displaced by fire from their single-story South Park home Friday morning.
The fire was reported at 1:21 a.m. on the 100 block of East 49th St., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Nicholas Prange.
Flames were showing when firefighters arrived at the house, Prange said.
“Crews coordinated interior fire attack efforts with rooftop ventilation to extinguish the flames in 45 minutes,” he said.
“The cause of the fire was attributed to a medical equipment malfunction,” Prange said.
No injuries were reported but the house was deemed unsafe to reoccupy and the family was provided with assistance in finding shelter, he said.
