A fire that erupted Tuesday in a car quickly spread into the Riverside house next to which it was parked, causing significant damage and displacing a family of four.
The blaze was reported at 10:30 a.m. near the intersection of Julies Way and Sycamore Canyon Boulevard, adjacent to Interstate 215 along the city limits, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said both county and municipal engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames raging in a vehicle, extending to the single-story house where it was parked.
The occupants of the property escaped unscathed.
Firefighters deployed around the blaze, fully containing it at 10:59 a.m., according to officials.
Two adults and two children were displaced as a result of damage to the home. Red Cross personnel were requested to assist the victims with finding temporary alternate lodgings.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
