Sheriff’s detectives continued their search Sunday for whoever shot to death a 49-year-old man inside his truck in Palmdale.
James Dimas-Carrillo of Palmdale was found dead about noon Thursday in the 5900 block of East Avenue T, according to Los Angeles County Coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter. His hometown was not known.
Deputies had gone to the location on a medical rescue call, according to Deputy Trina Schrader of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
“Upon arrival, deputies discovered a four-wheel drive truck stuck in soft sand just off the dirt shoulder on East Avenue T,” Schrader said. “They discovered the male inside the truck unresponsive. The victim sustained apparent gunshot wounds.”
A news photographer at the scene described the location as an empty lot in a desert area where some homes and industrial businesses are located.
“The weapon was not recovered and the suspect is outstanding,” Schrader said, adding that the killing “does not appear to be gang-related.”
Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
