A preliminary hearing date was pushed back Tuesday to Nov. 3 for a 68-year-old Coachella Valley man accused of inappropriately touching two young female family members.
Ysidro Anaya Sanchez was arrested Jan. 15 in Coachella for alleged crimes that occurred in June 2015. He is charged with five counts of committing lewd acts on a child under 14, with a sentence-enhancing allegation that the sex offenses involved multiple victims, opening him up to a possible life sentence if convicted as charged, according to prosecutors.
At his preliminary hearing, a judge will decide whether there is sufficient evidence to warrant a trial.
Sheriff’s Investigator Prezell Burgie alleged in a declaration in support of increased bail that Sanchez admitted he has a “problem” during an interview with investigators.
“I asked him if his problem is touching young girls,” Burgie wrote, “and he said yes.”
Sanchez, who has no documented felony convictions in Riverside County, remains in custody in lieu of $500,000 bail at the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside.
