Murrieta Man Charged with Sexually Assaulting Family Member

A Murrieta man accused of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old relative was charged Monday with lewd acts on a child and other offenses.

Kyle Steven Myers, 32, was arrested Thursday following a two-day investigation by the Murrieta Police Department.

Along with two counts of lewd acts on a minor, Myers is charged with sexual penetration of a child under 10 years old and witness intimidation.

The defendant, who is being held in lieu of $1 million bail at the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta, is slated to make his initial court appearance Monday afternoon at the Southwest Justice Center.

According to Murrieta police Sgt. Spencer Parker, Riverside County Child Protective Services personnel were first alerted to possible illicit contact between the victim and Myers last Tuesday.

After a preliminary investigation by CPS case agents, the matter was turned over to the police department, whose detectives initiated “forensic interviews, a medical examination” and other steps that “corroborated and substantiated several components of the ongoing investigation,” Parker said.

Myers was located and taken into custody without a struggle at a motel on Moreno Road in Temecula.

“The suspect gave a detailed confession regarding … the sexual assault,” Parker said.

The child is in the care of family members.

Myers has no documented prior felony or misdemeanor convictions in Riverside County.
