Top 10 fun weekend adventures in LA: Elvis, Jaws, Paris!

Happy weekend – It’s finally here! We’ve put together the top 10 fun adventures for you to check out starting Friday Aug. 26 through Sunday Aug. 28. Enjoy!

Friday, Aug. 26

Bey X RiRi X Nicki Dance Party (dance): Dance the night away listening to your favorite Beyonce, Rihanna and Nicki Minaj jams! Tickets for the 9 p.m. dance party are $10 at The Union, 4067 W. Pico Blvd., Los Angeles.

Gem Faire (shopping): Check out some fine gems, beads, crystals, gold and more at discounted prices. Plus, there will be free hourly door prizes. The event starts at noon. Tickets are $7 for 2 for 1. OC Fair, 88 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa.

LGTBQ Dance Party: (dance): Whitney Day, a bi-coastal musician-turned-DJ, will host the monthly LGTBQ dance off event at the mmhmmm at The Standard Hollywood Night Lounge. There will be camera ops, music and plenty of dancing. The free-admission event starts at 10 p.m. and doesn’t stop until 2 the next morning. at 8300 W. Sunset Blvd.

Saturday Aug. 27

Taco Festival (food): The Fullerton Sister City Association will present the 6th Annual Taco Festival. Chefs from Citizen Kitchen at Hotel Fullerton, El Farolito, and Tempo Urban Kitchen will be serving up your favorite tacos alongside some beer, margaritas and sangria. $5 will get you 3 tickets (tacos are 1 ticket, drinks are 3 tickets). The festival starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Fullerton Museum Center, 301 N. Pomona Ave, Fullerton.

Rumble at The Rose Bowl (exercise): Ready for a little challenge? Then you should sign up for the 6th Annual Rose Bowl Rumble! Join other battle-hardened gladiators and push yourself to the limit in popular obstacles like the Quads of the Gods and the Polar Bear Plunge. Sign up and get your tickets here! Depending on what competition level you want to do, start times and prices may vary so double check the page to get the exact details. 1001 Rose Bowl Drive, Pasadena. Good luck!

Beach Front Cinema – Jaws (film): Grab some friends and cuddle up on the beach to watch the classic ‘Jaws’- A film about a gigantic great white shark that terrorizes a small island community. You’re going to need a bigger boat! Starting at 5 p.m., tickets are $15. Huntington State Beach, 1601 Pacific Coast Highway.

Summer in Paris (food): Want to experience a little bit of Paris but can’t afford the flight? No worries. Come check out this summer night event and have the European city come to you. There will be live music, bottle specials and free champagne for women during the first hour. Just RSVP beforehand and admission is free. The event starts at 9 p.m. at Caffee’ Roma Ristorante, 350 N. Canon Drive, Beverly Hills.

Sunday, Aug. 28

Elvis Festival (music): Come pay tribute to the King himself at the 17th Annual Elvis Festival. The all-day event will include a Karaoke Elvis Singing Competition, a Hillbillies Bluegrass Elvis Show and the King of Cadillac’s Car Show. The 9 a.m. event includes free admission and parking. The Historic Main Street in Garden Grove.

Feed the Homeless (volunteer): Join L.A. on Cloud9 at MacArthur park and give back to families and animals in need. Giveaways will include backpacks filled with supplies for students, pharmaceuticals and food. Click here for a complete list of supplies still being sought for the handout. The event starts at 8 a.m. and it is free to “give back.” 2230 W. 6th St., Los Angeles.

Mad Science Mayhem Day (Museum): If you’re looking for a family day activity to take your kids to, then this is it! The Kidspace Children’s Museum will have a ton of scientific activities including dry ice experiments, a mad science laboratory and a Slime Kitchen! The event starts at 10 a.m. at the museum, 480 N Arroyo Blvd, Pasadena.
